Do you floss your teeth?

Pft, no. Not with any regularity. Much to my dentist’s chagrin, I struggle to have any routines in my life, and my dental hygiene is included in that. I floss if I need to (i.e. I can feel something stuck in my teeth), or if I’m not doing anything and I happen to see some floss.

Tea, coffee, or water?

Coffee all the way. I do have the occasional black tea, usually an English breakfast, on account of my time spent in the UK, but I’ll usually pick coffee over that. Thanks to Jesse’s Tea House, I have acquired a new appreciation for good tea, but now when I drink tea it’s often a bit of an event. But if I just want a hot drink, I’m reaching for coffee.

Footwear preference?

Whatever I can slip on the fastest. The heels of many of my sneakers have been ruined because I tie my shoes just enough to stay on, but loose enough that I can slide them on.

Favourite dessert?

In terms of “easy access” desserts, the winner is definitely ice cream. For many years I found myself unable to go to sleep if I hadn’t had a little bit of ice cream first. While I’ve gotten better about it, I do still find myself fiending for it on occasion.

A real treat though is flan. For the uninitiated, flan, which is also simply called pudding in some places, is a gelatinous custard that’s served with a light caramel sauce over the top of it. It is heavenly, in my humble opinion. If I’m at a restaurant and I see that on the menu, it’s an instant buy.

Churros are another instant buy from me. It’s all too easy to mess them up (stop overcooking them!!), so I end up buying a lot of mediocre churros. But, when they’re made right, they’re real good.

The first thing you do when you wake up?

These days, check my phone for notifications. I’m not happy to say that, but such is life right now. On days I don’t work, the first real thing I do get up and get some coffee/tea, and scrounge around for something to eat. From there I’ll maybe play an hour or two of whatever game I’m focused on that week. Then I’ll actually start my day.

On the days I work, I get up 10 minutes before I clock in so I can drive 20 minutes to get to work…

Age you’d like to stick at?

I’m a fiend for the past, so there’s a few different options to pick from. I could say 10, or maybe 15, or maybe 17. But recently I’ve actually been feeling more optimistic about my future, so I’d like to say I’ve yet to find the age I want would want to stay at. The past was nice, but I have a lot to look forward to, so maybe we keep moving forward.

How many hats do you own?

Four hats. I have a sun hat for working in the garden, a flat cap I just got in Scotland that I just wear anywhere, and I have two baseball caps. Those came from the owner of the company at my last job. One is for the Las Vegas Motor Way, and the other I can’t quite recall what it’s for. He is a very nice, charismatic old man, and he came up to my desk one day saying he was looking to get rid of some of his things and wanted to know if I’d like the two hats. Before this, I wasn’t really a hat wearer, so I politely declined. He had such a sad frown afterwards that I changed my mind because I’ll be damned if I make this sweet old man sad.

Describe the last photo you took?

It’s a wide shot of my garden box after a few days of rain. The box is soaked, but it’s still standing, so that’s nice.

Worst TV show?

I don’t rightly know. It’s been years since I actually watched TV. Probably something from TLC, like My 600 Pound Life, or Meet The Duggars.

As a child, what was your aspiration for adulthood?

I had a few, as any kid tends to do, but from what I recall I really stuck with the notion of being an astronomer for most of my childhood. I also remember wanting to be a geologist for some time.
